The Ervin program instilled a commitment to excellence in all facets of my life which I strive to carry with me since graduation. I appreciate more now than ever that my actions not only represent myself and my family, but also the Ervin family that embraced me.

What are your top two memories of the Ervin program, your Ervin classmates, and/or the Ervin administrators?

  1. One of my early memories occurred during my freshman year when each Ervin freshman had to meet with Dean McLeod to discuss their daily schedule. My schedule was fairly thorough, except for the fact that each day included a nap in the afternoon. Let's just say Dean McLeod made it apparent very quickly that naps were not going to be apart of my daily routine.
  2. Another fond memory is my perpetual desire to become a member of the "Green Suit Mafia" lead by Dean McLeod. I am not sure if anyone else besides Shaun and I picked up on this, but Dean McLeod has the best Wash U green suits. I believe when he became Vice Chancellor that Wash U provided him about 10 of these suits as a company perk.

How have the Ervin principles of service, diversity, leadership, and scholarship shaped you as a person/professional?

The Ervin family shaped me more than anything through its culture of high expectations and discipline. I understand now how valuable it is to carry myself with integrity across all my passions and to be grateful for the opportunities placed before me. But being grateful isn't enough. I have to leave my small piece of the world better than I found it.
