What Makes an Ervin?

Students interested in any of the five undergraduate divisions at Washington University - Architecture, Art, Arts & Sciences, Business, or Engineering - may apply for the John B. Ervin Scholars Program.

Each year, the Scholars join the WashU Community of about 6,000 undergraduates. Ervin Scholars have the opportunity to choose from nearly 1,500 courses in the undergraduate curriculum, get involve in almost 300 student groups, and make an impact on the Washington University Community and the Greater St. Louis Community.

The Four Pillars

The Ervin Program was founded on Four Pillars, often referenced throughout the four years a scholar is present on campus. Potential Ervin Scholars are expected to exemplify all pillars in order to be competitive for this program and embrace them when they arrive on campus. The Four Pillars are academic excellence, leadership, community service, and diversity. To learn more about each, click below.
